About PIPMG

Why is effective project management so important?

The external healthcare world has changed enormously in recent years. We are having to work much harder to make our products acceptable to markets and our internal processes need to work at ever-greater efficiency so that we can remain profitable.

Most pharmaceutical companies accept that it's essential to work in a programme and project-oriented way, grouping the scientific, commercial, technical and operational experts into the bodies that can really deliver value - cross-functional development projects.

Furthermore, almost no company these days operates as a self-contained unit. Alliances, partnerships and networks of service organisations are the norm. Projects frequently work across these groupings.

Unfortunately, it often seems that the culture of Pharma organisations is not developing with sufficient speed to cope with all this. The discipline-oriented hierarchy, conflicting with project management, is still very much alive!

The project manager has the unenviable task of leading in this complex world! To make it worse, project management is frequently given little serious attention in the organisation. The PIPMG is on your side! We are committed to providing support, guidance and industry advocacy.
